It is clear when John Mc Cain attacks and critisized Barack Obama after the Berlin speech to travel on to Paris the problem is Kurt Beck speaker of the social democrats of Rhineland-Palatinate, Ministerpräsident of Rheinland Pflalz because Ramstein Airport and Landstuhl Military hospital are located in the state under his government, still in some kind of extraterritorial rule because airlifts of US troops wounded in Iraq arrive at Ramstein Airport, emergency surgery at Landstuhl.
For the elections of 2009 Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmaier could be a candidate for chancellery against Beck.
What Mc Cain really said was, Barack Obama did not care about regional policy, one state of sixteen states of Germany but the one where most US facilities are located.
Obama prefered to meet Nicolas Sarkozy, the president of France instead and showed good standing and performance in power.
The critisisms falls back to Mc Cain, indeed, as citizens of Germany and Europe we do not have a special recipe for treatment of US troops and this shows the rift in Germany's party politics as there emerged a fifth party headed by Oscar Lafontaine who opposed emergency surgery in Landstuhl.
Conservative party policy is, cutting off the fifth party "Die Linke" left coalition.
Obama made no faults in power politics, he was excellent, still, the problem remains if a great coalition in Berlin has 70 % of mandates and could rewrite a constitution which they did not in favour of a constitution for Europe, that France and the Netherlands rejected in public vote, the rewritten treaty of Lisbon was rejected by Ireland in a referendum of public votes.

So if Mc Cain wants to improve his standing he has to commit to Kurt Beck, Obama did well with the presidency of France which has the presidency of the European Union in the second half of 2008.

So Europe and the US depend on France.
